Electric Mountain Bikes
We've fallen head over heels for electric mountain bikes. They're proven time and time again to bring the fun, a deeper sense of adventure, and more exploration than we ever thought possible. Whether you're hauling the camping gear to the fire pit with the El Kahuna SUV, going for an epic trail adventure on your Remote 130, or self-shuttling on the Remote 160, you're going to reach new levels of good times with Kona electric mountain bikes.
A bike for every adventure
The Remote 130, the Remote 160, and the all-new El Kahuna SUV
Remote 160
The Remote 160 makes gravity riding completely self-sufficient. A fully-integrated battery keeps the lines clean. With 160mm of travel, powerful disc brakes, and the ability to crush the biggest of hills, you'll never miss a chairlift again.
Remote 130
The Remote 130 strikes perfect harmony between an all-mountain trail bike and pedal-assist electric bike. Its geometry is derived from the Process 134 and features a 65° head tube angle, 435mm chainstays, and the same reach as its sister 134 bikes.
El Kahuna SUV
The new El Kahuna SUV is the perfect answer to your gear-hauling needs. No more struggling to carry heavy loads. A rear rack hauls the pony keg and your tent, while front and rear lights illuminate the path to ensure you don't get lost on the way to the fire pit.
Remote
With geometry similar to that of a Honzo DL, and featuring a 140mm fork, the Remote is the ultimate electric hardtail weapon for full-on trail shredding.
Call2Recycle FAQ
Does Kona participate in any ebike battery recycling programs?
Yep! Kona has partnered with Call2Recycle to take care of all battery recycling at the end of their life.
Whatis Call2Recycle Canada?
Call2Recycle is Canada’s largestconsumer battery collection and recycling organization, managing a network of thousands of public collection sites through “Recycle Your Batteries, Canada!”, its household and e-bike battery collection and recycling program. Call2recycle operates official battery recycling programs in seven Canadian provinces (as of September 2024) and manages voluntary programs in all other provinces and territories. Since its inception in 1997, Call2Recycle has diverted over 50 million kilograms of batteries from Canadian landfills.
Are there any fees associated with this service?
Yes, the structure is set up so that the eco fee is passed along the chain to the end consumer. These fees all ensure the program runs effectively. Here’s how it works:
- As the importer of record, Kona will remit the fees to Call2Recycle Canada. It’s $10 per electric bike or aftermarket battery.
- Kona will pass the eco fee to the dealer when e-bikes or batteries are shipped.
- The consumer buying the bike or battery will pay the dealer the fee.
- This fee ensures that when your battery reaches the end of its life, it will be safely recycled for no additional fee.
Do I also need to pay a fee when the battery is ready to be recycled?
Nope. The fee you paid at the time of purchase is the only fee you’ll ever need to pay to recycle your battery.
Will my dealer take the battery when I can no longer use it?
This will vary from dealer to dealer as it’s up to them if they want to sign up to be a battery collection site.
I’m a dealer and want to become a collection site. How do I sign up?
Great! The more collection sites the better! It costs nothing to become a collection site. Find out more info here.
I’m a consumer and my local dealer isn’t a collection site. Where can I recycle my batteries?
We will do our best to encourage our dealer network to participate in the program, but if they haven’t had time or choose not to participate, please use the locator to find your nearest location.
Why should I recycle my batteries?
Battery recycling is essential to help protect our environment and better manage our waste.
Used batteries should NEVER be thrown away in the garbage or even in the recycling bin. They include metals and chemicals that can be harmful to our environment if we just throw them away. When discarded batteries end up in landfills, they can harm the environment and worsen Canada’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
A “dead” battery still holds a residual charge and poses a safety risk if not disposed of properly.
Batteries that are recycled properly are sent for processing, where valuable materials like metal alloys are retrieved and used to produce new products like silverware,
bikes and golf clubs – contributing to a circular economy.
