After getting hit with Covid right before my favourite race of the year, The NZ Enduro National Champs at Cable Bay, I was pretty down in the dumps, especially after just recovering from a buggered ankle.
Heading into the following weekend severely behind on training I had a chance to check my speed again at a chill but stacked local enduro. Quite the polar opposite to the national champs course, Mt. Victoria trades long, steep and wet for short, dry and flat out, but it’s still heaps of fun.
I managed to have myself a decently clean day with only one crash, but struggled to push myself. Came out at the end with a 3rd in Open behind some blisteringly fast guys, a tight 12 seconds off the pace.
Every race I’ve done recently has taught me a little more about what I need to be doing, from here on out, it’s just about executing it.
