JUNIOR FACTORY TEAM

Scott Funston

I fell in love with riding bikes when I started racing BMX at the age of six. I switched to racing cyclocross and mountain bikes when I was nine. Over the last eight years I've made over ten national championship podiums including XC mountain bike, short track, super D, downhill and winning cyclocross nationals in 2015. The last two years I've traveled the world to compete in UCI cyclocross and mountain bike races. I've had the honor of representing the United States nine times, including at the 2018 cyclocross world championships. I look forward to continuing to race bikes collegiately and maybe even professionally.

FAVORITE MOMENT OF 2017

My favorite moment of 2017 was when I finished eighth at my first cyclocross world cup in Zeven, Germany. The race was a complete mud fest with long "tractor pull" sections and a lot of running. I spent the majority of the race fighting for seventh and was even in sixth for part of the last lap. I couldn't believe how well I did. My goal was to finish in the top 15 but I crushed that goal. This moment was a big deal to me because I proved to myself that I can compete at an international level. Last June I went on a USA Cycling race camp in Switzerland where I was mid pack at best and was over five minutes down from the winner. When I finished 8th in Zeven I felt like I could actually be successful at racing in Europe.
