TRACY MOSELEY 2ND IN MARIBOR, SLOVENIA WORLD CUP, 2ND OVERALL FOR THE YEAR
The Kona Les Gets Factory Team wrapped up the World Cup season with a fine
performance by Tracy Moseley. Tracy once again showed she is one of the most
consistent downhill finishers on the World Cup circuit. Unfortunately, a
scare was felt throughout racing community when Fabien Barel crashed hard in
the semi-final. Barel had been riding well and was confident after his
Silver Medal performance at the World Championships.
Tracy Moseley wanted to do well at the final Word Cup in Maribor and a
disheartening finish at the World Championships in Fort William, Scotland
where she placed fourth. She needed to do well in order to maintain her 2nd
overall in the World Cup standings and on this occasion she delivered.
Moseley took 2nd in the Elite Women’s Downhill at Maribor, Slovenia and
finished out the season 2nd Overall in the World Cup Standings. “I was
disappointed obviously to not have done better at Fort William. I really
felt like I had a good shot at the win this weekend and that would have been
a great cap to the up and down year. But given the season I’m pretty happy
to finish 2nd overall,” said Moseley.
Fabien Barel’s season ended badly. He crashed very hard in the semi-final
run. Barel hit a tree stump that sent him tumbling and he was knocked
unconscious. He had to be taken to the hospital and was diagnosed with a
minor concussion and a back injury. Fabien has since been cleared and
released from the hospital and is on his way back home to France. All
reports at this time indicate with appropriate down time full recovery
should be complete. We wish him the best to those ends and will post further
updates when available.
Kamil Tatarkovic stayed consistent as he has most all season and
equaled his finish of the World Championships of 9th place. Tartarkovic was
not ever quite able to match the finishes he put together last year but was
always in the mix. With 4X the end result can be quite unpredictable.
Tatarkovic finished out the season in 11th place overall in the World Cup
standings.
Wendy Simms & Kris Sneddon continued their foray to the World Cups,
getting one final dose of the best of the international racing. Simms
thought the course was super fun but was derailed of a good finish by two
flats and she ended up 41st. But as she has been able to do most all season
long she turned the negative to the positive. “My legs feel great. The two
flats bummed me out but for the first time this season my legs feel like
they are coming around as they should…just in time for cyclocross,” said
Simms.
Kris Sneddon once again put in some good efforts. “The race was really hard
because I didn't start going forwards until the 3rd lap, if I felt at the
end of the race in the beginning it would have been awesome.” said Sneddon
who finished 74th.
The Kona-Les Gets Factory team has enjoyed two of the best in Paul Walton
and Mark Matson. They are the mechanics and do it all guys behind the
scenes. Great mechanics, the wrenches they spin and all the little (and big)
things they do make the teams go. They both did a great job of working the
trenches all season long.
It’s been another great World Cup Season for the Kona-Les Gets Factory Team.
Over the season the team persevered through some tough challenges. There has
been unfortunate injuries, the occasional transportation problems and some
tough finishes. As we have come to expect through it all the team conducted
themselves with the utmost professionalism and it showed as Tracy Moseley
takes home a Silver Medal for the World Cup Overall.
Congratulations to the team and our thanks to the sponsors-with mention to
our friends at Les Gets-for the successes of 2007 season.
And of course…thanks to Dan & Jake for making it all happen and another year
of Kona Racing in the books.
Till Next Time,
Marko
