Top Five results this past season: Everyday and overall win at Trans
Rockies, Canadian National CX Championship win, 7th World CX
Championships, two 5th place finishes at CX euro World Cups

Strengths:
I like to think of myself as a generalist
Favorite Chocolate:
Neauhaus - for $125 I can have 16 of my favourite
chocolates shipped direct from Belgium. If only I could afford
it....
Favorite Baked Good:
this pastry boat filled with custard covered in
chocolate - no clue what its called but its a specialty from Hoogstraten,
Belgium
Belgium or Netherlands:
Belgie!
Dog or Cat:
Dog - my dog Marty hates cats
Snowboard or Ski:
Snowboard
Up or Down:
up and down. and around.
Techno or Metal:
speed metal - but not before a race or I crash
AC/DC or Led Zeppelin:
tough choice but I will have to go with AC/DC to
support my teammate Sneddon
You had a great year riding cross in Europe. Were you surprised at your
performance:
I just thought "its about *#@!'n time!"
The Trans Rockies Victory with your husband Norm seems to be one of your favorite wins. What makes that event and the win different:
I loved
that race! It doesn't hurt that we absolutely dominated that event. Plus,
Norm and I are great partners. He has tons of multi day racing experience
and I am stubborn enough to be racing the open men, not the mixed teams.
We are pretty close in riding style and fitness and we can either ride for
miles in silence or chat about anything and everything. Norm's dad and uncle
supported us and our dog Marty was the cheering squad. What more could you
ask for?
You love to race bikes no matter what kind but is there a
discipline you could call your favorite:
I like to mix it up but if I had to
choose one...it would probably be cross, no wait, mountain bike,
no...depends on the race, the day, the trail, the weather, my mood
Can you call out a single career highlight and why:
winning my first
Canadian National CX Champs in 2003. That win kickstarted the last few years
of racing at a whole new level. If it wasnt for that win (I only won by
about 1cm) I would probably be somewher completely different, thinking that
I never had what it takes to be a pro racer...
What's it mean to you to be riding for the Kona:
I couldn't be doing this
without the support I have received from Kona. With Kona its about a
lifestyle, so its been a perfect fit for me.
Do you know what an 8-Track Tape is? If you did what got the most play time:
8 - what?
Compression socks. Is that a joke or for real:
Compression sox are great for
travelling and post race recovery but everyone racing in them looks like a
knob...everyone!
Your husband Normon is hilarious. Has he ever made you pee you pants
laughing. If so when:
did he make you ask that?
Norm is hilarious until I am hungry. When I stop laughing at his jokes he
knows to shove some food in my face - fast
You're technical skills are top notch. Where did they come from:
I learned
to ride on the infamous Vancouver North Shore. Once you ride there
everything else looks pretty easy. I also raced downhill for a couple years
so that always comes in handy.
What's your favorite number and why:
22 has good mojo for me. why? because
the number 23 is evil obviously
Is your sister really a stuntwoman:
My sister Sharon is a stuntwoman and a
hottie. Sorry boys she is no longer single. She does fire work, motorcycle
and car scenes, high falls, fight scenes, underwater scenes - you name it.
She even had to jump from building to building wearing deer legs. You can
never really see her in the movies with the editing but she was decapitated
in an elevator once and I KNEW it was her because she has the same hands as
me.
Last Words:
time to ride |
